Sharon Clarke became interested in Deaf Education while working at the Illinois School for the Deaf during her Jr. and Senior years in college. She received her Masters Degree in Deaf Education from Boston University in 1972. Sharon had the honor of teaching at the Beverly School for the Deaf from 1972-1985 in the Elementary, Middle and Upper School programs. She also served as principal from 1983-1985. In 1985 she made the difficult decision to move to the Horace Mann School for the Deaf in Allston to teach in the high school program. She served as Team Leader of the High School for about 12 years and Coordinator of the Middle and High School Departments for her last 4 years. Sharon retired at the end of 40 years of Deaf Education in Massachusetts in 2012. Sharon also served on the Board of Trustees for the New England Homes for the Deaf in Danvers, MA, for 28 years. BSD has always held a special place in her heart so she is delighted to return as a member of the Board and wishes to thank the Board members for this opportunity to serve BSD once again.
