Alumni Museum

The William B. Swett museum housed in the Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf is filled with artifacts, photos, electronics, documents, sports memorabilia and many other types of historically interesting items from the school that was founded in Beverly in 1847. Maintained and updated by alumni from the Beverly School for the Deaf, the museum is a wonderful place to get an up close and personal experience with what life was like for deaf students and teachers when times were very different.

The Beverly School Alumni Association recently held a reunion and celebrated with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony of The William B. Swett Alumni Museum opening. The Museum is now open to the public — but by appointment only.

The Museum Committee has been working on the museum for almost three years and is now starting on a history book telling the story of The Beverly School for the Deaf. The committee is actively seeking monetary and other donations.

Their wish list includes display cases; floor or wall-mounted poster display; a new computer and color printer (with ink); a copier; a TV with a DVD player (hopefully built-in); and a working 8 mm movie projector and a Super 8 projector. We will have a more complete list as we move forward. If you or someone you know would like to make a donation of cash or items to the committee, we would be most appreciative.

If you would like to arrange a donation or come in and see the museum please email Anna Lynch at Lynch1997@aol.com. For the most up-to-date news about the museum, click the button below:
