Open Position: Staff Interpreter

The Children’s Center for Communication/ Beverly School for the Deaf seeks a full-time Staff Interpreter who will work on campus with staff, as well as with students who have atypical language. This position includes generous holiday and vacation schedules, benefits, retirement plans, and a competitive salary.

 Full-Time- 37.5 hours/week; at least but not limited to 25 hours a week of interpreting, the rest of the time will be spent preparing for assignments, program assistance as needed and assigned, and mentorship opportunities.

 Candidates will have an Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, from an accredited college or university, with coursework in interpreting, education, Deaf education, special education, communication disorders, or early-childhood preferred.  Previous successful experience with children with special needs is highly preferred.  

 In addition, the candidate must show evidence of EIPA certification, National Certification, or approved to interpret from the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Should the candidate not possess an EIPA certification score of at least 3.5, he/she must obtain the certification by September 2022 to comply with Massachusetts State regulations.
