Parent-Infant/Toddler Programs

The Parent-Infant/Toddler Program (PIP) supports families with children under the age of 3 who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing throughout the North Shore and the Greater Boston area. PIP services follow standards set by Massachusetts Early Intervention (EI) and the Department of Public Health (DPH). PIP teachers work closely with the child’s Early Intervention service providers, audiologists or cochlear implant team, and other related service providers. American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English are equally valued and included.

Working with CCCBSD and Evemarie Davis has been life-changing for our family. Our daughter was born with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and we began working with Eve after my daughter received her first pair of hearing aids at 12 weeks of age. Eve has done everything imaginable to educate our family and to set my daughter up for success. She introduced us to pilot caps, ASL, CCCBSD parent events, and my daughter’s first friend who wears the same pink glitter hearing aids! Most importantly, she made us truly believe that the sky is the limit for our little girl.

Our one year old daughter Hudson is hard of hearing. This past year has been a roller coaster of emotions.  When we started the PIP program we were finally able to step off the ride. We were in a place with families just like us.  We were welcomed with open arms and immediately felt comfortable. We love working with Robin because she really gets Hudson and us.  She is so knowledgeable, caring, and supportive.  Robin understands that Hudson is a puzzle and we appreciate that. We have learned so much from Robin and her support means a lot to us. Participating in the PIP program has given us the confidence as parents in knowing that we are providing our daughter with the best opportunity possible for her to grow and to develop into the best version of herself.  We are so thankful for the PIP program.

We were at a loss as to how to navigate this new life with our young daughter. Attending PIP not only opened up a way for us to communicate with her, but we found so much support, information and community from others who have gone through similar experiences and truly understand. Attending PIP opened up a whole new and inviting world for our family.

“While we have no history of hearing loss in our family, we have two daughters with hearing loss.  Getting a hearing loss can be overwhelming because there is so much information offered that it can be tough to know where to start.  Being introduced to the PIP at CCCBSD and specifically working with Cindy was incredible.  It gave us direction and a plan.  We were introduced to many resources and a whole community of support.  Our 4 year old is now such a strong communicator and our 1 year old is meeting and exceeding current expectations for her age.  Cindy’s visits and support have been crucial in helping our children sign and bridging the gap between ASL and spoken language.  The girls really enjoy their visits with Cindy and we are very thankful to her and the PIP!”
