Dr. Szarkowski received funding from the Harvard Radcliffe Institute to host a workshop on Emotional Regulation Among Deaf Children. This gathering of international scholars laid the foundation for this collaboration. Partnerships stemming from this workshop have led to productive work on social emotional functioning in deaf children, exploring topics such as emotional regulation, affect recognition, understanding of emotion words/concepts, and expression of emotions.  This collaboration emphasizes the positive promotion of social emotional functioning.
